Week 9-Creative Curricular

Updated: May 2, 2020

Improving Creativity in the Education Sector

Although not agreeing with the quote above, I believe there are methods to embed elements of all subjects in other lessons. Maths, English, science, humanities and the creative sectors are all equally important and we must lose this myth that some are a higher priority than others. Yes some people will be more passionate towards certain areas but it is up to the tutors, teachers, leaders to express interest and inspiring examples for all to maximise opportunities for young people to find their true vocation.

Based upon this I have a few suggestions for creative links which could be incorporated into the 'academic' subjects. Some could be used as icebreaker or wind down activities towards the end of the lesson, some could involve creating fantastic display work which is colourful, eye catching and information in a more creative way. By adding variation to topics it helps to maintain motivation which helps with positive behaviour. Please see the 'Creative Curricular' tab for these suggested ideas.

Due to limited time, I have not been able to make any creative examples of origami or Pop Art onomatopoeia words but once made in bulk and displayed in school, these would look powerful, engaging and informative.

Documenting these ideas and furthering the website has resulted in another ten hours work this week, the total now being 180 hrs.
